Sateliti-radar TanDEM-X që dodhet në hapësirë do japë të dhëna të rëndësishme dhe një hartë 3 dimensionale të parealizuar deri tani.
Sateliti do punojë në cift me TerraSAR-X që ndodhet në orbitë që prej vitit 2007.

Puna voluminoze për të ndërtuar këtë hartë do vazhdojë për tre vjet, në krye të të cilave, 150 milionë metra katrorët e Tokës do vijne ne nje version te papare. Rezolucioni do jetë rreth 2 metra.
