Nga pupilat e syrit mund të kuptohen shumë gjëra, sepse pupilat jo vetëm zgjerohen apo ngushtohen sipas sasisë së dritës por ndryshojnë edhe në varësi të gjendjes sonë emocionale.

Pupilat zgjerohen p.sh. jo vetëm kur është errësirë, por edhe kur jemi tejet të ngazëllyer ose të stresuar, kur ndiejmë neveri ose frikë.

Studiuesit e Institutit të Teknologjisë në Xhorxhia kanë zbuluar tani se ekziston edhe një korrelacion midis madhësisë së pupilave dhe shkallës së inteligjencës (IQ) së njerëzve.

Ata zhvilluan një eksperiment me 500 vetë mes moshave 18 dhe 35 vjeç. Rezulati: sa më të mëdha pupilat, aq më mirë dilnin personat në testet e ndryshme të inteligjencës.
