Shoqata Greenpeace ka leshuar alarmin për ndotjen e madhe që sipas saj, interneti i shkakton planetit.

“Reja dixhitale” krijon clirime të mëdha në atmosferë që mund të trefishohet në vitin 2020 për shkak të serverave të kolosëve të IT-së.

Në akuzë janë edhe smartphones e Ipad që krijojnë trafik të madh informacioni. Sipas Greenpeace, të gjitha informacionet tashmë ruhen në servera të mëdhenj, të cilët janë ndërtuar kryesisht me karbon. Raporti më i fundit i kësaj organizate shënjestron mbi të gjithe edhe blogun Faceb00k.

Kolosi i Mark Zuckerberg ka ndërtuar një qëndër për përpunimin e të dhënave në Prineville të Oregonit. “Duam që FB të përdorë 100 % energji të rinovueshme”, protestojnë ambientalistët. Më mirë është sjellë Yahoo që sipas Greenpeace, për serverin e ndërtuar në Buffalo ka zgjedhur të përdorë edhe energji hidroelektrike.
