Trigonometria është degë e matematikës që merret me studimin e trekëndëshit.Ka zbatim jashtëzakonisht të madh në inxhinieri, arkitekturë, orientim në hapësirë dhe astronomi. Ndahet në trigonometrinë plane (që merret me trekëndëshat në plan) dhe atë sferike (që merret me trekëndëshat sferikë). Funksionet trigonometrike gjithashtu luajnë rol në analizë dhe përdoren për të paraqitur valët dhe fenomenet e tjera periodike.


Funksionet themelore trigonometrike
* Sinusi i këndit A1 (këndi aOb) është hersi i ndërmjet katetës a (segmenti A-B) dhe hipotenuses c (segmenti C-A). Sinusi në trigonometri shkruhet me shkurtesen sin (lexohet sinus)
* Kosinusi i këndit A1 (këndi aOb) është hersi i ndërmjet katetës b (segmenti B-C) dhe hipotenuses c (segmenti C-A). Kosinusi në trigonometri shkruhet me shkurtesen cos (lexohet kosinus)
* Tangjeti është hersi në mes të sin X1 dhe cos X1. Tangjenti në trigonometri shkruhet me shkurtesen tan (lexohet tangjent)
* kotangjeti është hersi në mes të cos X1 dhe sin X1. kotangjenti në trigonometri shkruhet me shkurtesen ctg (lexohet kotangjent)

Formulat trigonometrike

sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1... x është këndi aOb
 
Kto pra qe i ke marr me X e A1 pra jon kendet qe shenohen ("L") e shkruva qishtu si L se osht simboli ALFA.Pra kendet qe jon Alfa,Beta,Gama,Delta.

Psh.
sin²L (L=Alfa)
cos²L (L=Alfa)
tg²B (B=Beta)
ctg²B (B=Beta)

Perveq sinusit,kosinusit,tangjentin dhe kotangjentit (sin,cos,tg,ctg) ka edhe formula tjera por keto perdoren me shpesh.
Tjeter san me shtu osht qe:
sin²L+cos²L=1
Kta duhet mi dit se neper formula e neper detyra ipet psh sinusi e ti mi gjet kosinusin ose jepet diqka tjeter mi gjet tangjentin etj.
