Ftoi është një frut i shijshëm, por jo shume i përdorur. Megjithatë ai është plot vitamina dhe sjell shume te mira tek organizmi.
Karakteristika kryesore e ftoit është mungesa e fibrave ne krahasim me frutat e tjerë. Efektet energjetike dhe tonifikuese te tij janë te nevojshme për florin e zorrëve. Ai lufton diarrenë dhe ul sasinë e kolesterolit ne gjak.
Tanina dhe pektina e tij përdoren për te luftuar sëmundjet kardio-vaskulare, kancerin, diabetin, por edhe obezitetin.
Paralelisht me ketë, ftoi përmban edhe shume vitamina. Ndërmjet tyre mund te përmendim vitaminën A, B1, B2 dhe PP.
Edhe pse përmban vetëm 15mg/100gr vitamine C ky frut zë një vend te mire kundrejt frutave te tjerë. Duhet ta dini se pjekja e tij heq një pjese te kësaj vitamine.
Ftoi gjithashtu përmban edhe kripëra minerale, magnez (8mg/100gr), fosfor (17mg/100gr), bakër (0,13mg/100gr ), kalcium (11mg/100gr) dhe kalium (197mg/100gr).
Duke qene edhe qetësues, konsumimi i tij i jep force dhe tonalitet organizmit.
