اmimi Nobel prej 1 milion eurosh në kimi do të ndahet mes dy shkencëtarëve amerikanë për kontributin e tyre në studimin receptorëve për të kuptuar më mirë se si miliarda qeliza të trupit tonë komunikojnë me njëra-tjetrën.

Puna e dy studiuesve amerikanë, Robert Lefkowitz dhe Brian Kobilka u përqendrua në zbardhjen e mënyrës se si një numër i caktuar proteinash çanin membranën (murin) qelizore për t’u futur në brendi të tyre.

Lefkowitz, i cili u mor në telefon nga Komiteti i dorëzimit të cmimit Nobel, sqaroi se receptorët shërbejnë si porta hyrëse në qelizë për shumë neuro-transmetues dhe hormone. Receptorët, thotë shkencëtari amerikan, janë të pozicionuar në mënyrë të tillë që të rregullojnë çdo proces fizik të organizmit.

Studimi cilësohet thelbësor për të kuptuar rrjetin kompleks të komunikimit mes qelizave.
