Pas 25 vitesh VW shuan tërësisht prodhimin e Golf I

Golfi i parë është krijuar në vitin 1974 si zëvendësim për modelin “breshkë” të VW-së. Përveç se e ka definuar segmentin evropian C i cili edhe sot quhet klasa Golf, automjeti kompakt i Volkswagen ka qenë i popullarizuar botërisht i cili, në formën pak a shumë të pandryshuar, është prodhuar deri rishtazi.

Në fakt, Volkswagen ka vendosur që pas 25 vitesh dhe 500.000 njësive të prodhuara të shuaj prodhimin e Golfit I edhe në Afrikë të Jugut. Atje gjatë njëzetepesë vjetëve të fundit Golf prodhohej me emrin EconoGolf e CitiGolf.

ثshtë interesante se gjatë përpunimit të automjetit supozohet se Volkswagen ka shfrytëzuar arkitekturën nga fabrikat e veta amerikane në Westmoreland.

Golfi jugafrikan ofrohej me paletën e plotë të motorëve me benzinë dhe naftë prej 1.1 deri në 1.8 litra.
