Studimi i realizuar në Britani të Madhe, sugjeron se konsumimi i verës që mban më pak se 10% alkool, mund të zvogëlojë rrezikun e shfaqjes së disa llojeve të karcinomave.

Sipas të dhënave të reja konsumimi ditor i 250 mililitrave verë që përmban më pak se 10% alkool, zvogëlon rrezikun e shfaqjes së kancerit të zorrës së trashë, fytit, ezofagut dhe gjirit.

Ndërkohë, sipas rekomandimeve të deritanishme, brenda ditës meshkujt nuk guxojnë të konsumojnë më shumë se dy njësi të pijeve alkoolike, ndërsa femrat vetëm një.

Njëherit thuhet se konsumi i dhjetë gramëve alkool më tepër brenda ditës (diçka më shumë se një njësi) mund të shtojë rrezikun e shfaqjes së kancerit.
