Hyn në fuqi ndihma e re ekonomike për personat në nevojë dhe të papunë. Shtesat për rritjen do të merren në muajin gusht, por efekti financiar i saj që në muajin maj. Niveli mesatar i ndihmës së pjesshme ekonomike është 2,986 lekë, ndërsa niveli i ndihmës ekonomike të plotë është 3,798 lekë në muaj. Paga minimale me vendim të Këshillit të Ministrave Nr. 995, datë 02.07.2008 “Për përcaktimin e pagës minimale në shkallë vendi” është 17,000 lekë. Niveli bazë i pagesës së papunësisë me VKM Nr. 236, datë 27.02.2008 është 5,980 lekë.
