Gjithçka ndodhi në xhiron e fundit të garës në Daytona International Speedway, kur Regan Smith që ishte lideri i eventit tentoi t’i mbyllte rrugën Brad Keselowskit për të siguruar fitoren e tij por makinat u përplasën duke shkaktuar një aksident zinxhirë me makinën e Kyle Larson që kaloi rrethimin e pistës dhe përfundoi në shkallët e impiantit duke goditur disa spektaktorë. Pamjet e transmetuara janë të frikshme dhe sipas policisë 33 persona mbetën të plagosur duke përfshire edhe pilotin e ri Larson.
