Who are the Greeks? At least five-sixths of them, if not more, are Christian Albanians of the Orthodox faith, Albanians in sentiment and in language, who because they acknowledge the Patriarch of Constantinople are declared to be Greek in point of ´national consciousness´.
A map that had found the way through the pages of a respected encyclopedia website Wikipedia, which unfortunately is full of unreliable and speculative unfiltered information, losing its main goal to inform the public in an impartial way and always showing the alternative outlooks, which telling the truth is not missing in regards of this subject.
The map is placed in the page about the Epirus region, and shows extreme opinions, about what composed Ancient Epirus and Illyria. The reason why Wikipedia did not filter the information displayed in this map or why it did not give an alternative to this is very
fishy, but it is a well known fact that some exponents of Greek propaganda enjoy high ranks within Wikipedias moderators team, a situation suspiciously tolerated from the organizations leaders.
When it comes to the language spoken by Epirotes has been implied as Greek by the map creator, and supported only from the scripts found on a limited number of archeological artifacts such as coins, tablets, steles etc most of which are found where ancient Greek
colonies were established, and almost never in a rural Epirotic area.
The truth is that very few scholars are suggesting Epirotic language to be a form of Greek. Lets grant the pleasure to them for now, admitting that Epirotes were using Greek, but if so, what about uncountable coins, steles, tablets from Illyria where scripts
found on artifacts were Greek, and not only around places where Greek colonies had been built, but everywhere even in the most remote Illyrian cities, far from Greek influence? The excuse that only the Illyrian elite was using the Greek language is just such, otherwise it must be applied for the Epirotic elite too, making null the argument
that entire population of Epirus had been speaking Greek. So the selective reasoning of these scholars is just another speculation, making inevitable the falsity of their arguments and the map where those pseudo arguments are synthesized.
About 200 years ago, a new state was proclaimed, bearing the mysterious ancient name,
Hellas. The new Hellenes began now to make every effort to bring about evidences of
connections to their lost and forgotten ancestors. These evidences although scarce,
superficial and often speculative were intended to effect a junction between two very
different realities, one lost and virtual but romantically suggested from some western
scholars, the other so naked from anything great or noble. Not being for political reasons,
even the most enthusiast of the Ancient Greeks among the western scholars would not
have suggested the modern pre-revolution population having any tie to them.
A nation is usually a group of people, taken hand by hand for reasons like religion,
language, origin or blood. When it comes to Ancient Hellenes, if we trust the old
accounts about them, they were obviously not people of the same pure ethnic origin, but
surely they had the same religion.
GREECE, THE LAND WHERE MYTHS REPLACE THE HISTORY. (Myths about Epirus)-PART I-
What is myth and what does it serve?
Myth is a narrative based usually on a false story which can not be used as a replacement
of history, but sometimes myth might be considered a distorted account of a real
historical event. The myth does not differ much from a folktale and usually the boundary
between them is very thin. Myth can not be considered as history, however in the ancient
society of the so called Ancient Greeks myth was usually regarded as a true account
for a remote past. Surprisingly this tradition is descended to the Modern Greeks as well.
They never loose the chance to use the myths and the mythology of a remote past and to
pose them as their real ethnic history. This job is being done combining the ancient myths
with the ones already created in the modern era. Now lets take a look at two Greek
myths, respectively one ancient and one modern, while our job is to prove that even these
myths are respectively hijacked or created to join realities not related to each other, but
unfortunately propagandized belonging to a real history, the history of the Greek race.
Thus before we analyze and expose some of their myths which are uncountable, we are
inclined to say that whatever is considered Greek History is completely based on
mythical stories, whose reliability and truthiness is deeply compromised for the mere fact
that is based on myths not only by the Modern Greeks and especially philhellenes, but
even by the ancient authors.
We already know that the most known tribes of Epirus were Thesprotians(+Kassopaians),
Mollosians, and Chaonians . Several ancient authors like Thucydides(The Peloponnesian
War 2.80.1), Strabo (7.7.6), Theopompus(Strabo 7.7.8), Ephorus(Strabo 8.1.3), Hecateus
of Miletus(Strabo 7.7.1), Skylax of Karyander, Pseudo- Scymnus etc have not included
these tribes within Greece proper, some of the above have named them barbarians (a term
used to define a person ethnicity as opposed to a Greek one) and to drop the pretenses
raised that this term was not used to denote ethnic implication but just cultural one
