Forma e vërtetë e tokes nuk eshte e rrumbullaket. Ajo eshte e shtypur ne pole dhe kurrizore ne ekuator. Forma e tille e tokes eshte elipsoide. Ajo eshte elipsoide e valezuar dhe ne gjeografi quhet gjeoid(gjeo-tokë dhe eidos-pamje)


Kur eshte verejtur se toka ka formen e rrumbullakes, nuk ka qene veshtire te llogaritet madhesia e saj. Jane bërë matje dhe llogaritje te shumta. Siperfaqja e planetit tone eshte 510 milionë km2, prej siperfaqes me uje 360 milione km2 dhe me toke 150milion km2. Rrethi i ekuatorit eshte pak me i madh se 40.000 km, perkatsisht 40.000.000m. Rrezja ekuatorjale eshte 6378 km e ajo polare 6357km.
