Ne ish kampin e ndertuar nga eksploratori para gati 1 shekulli, jane gjetur feta buke me gjalpe. Scott mberriti ne Polin e Jugut ne 17 janar te vitit 1912 bashke me 4 burra te tjere dhe e gjithe ekspedita nuk mundi te kthehej ne atdhe pasi gjeti vdekjen gjate rruges se kthimit.


Ne zonat e ngrira te planetit, shkenceratet kane bere zbulimet me te medha persa i perket arkeologjise, pasi akulli ruan per mijera vjet edhe trupat e njerezve ne gjendje shume te mire.
